Oni Press continues to build momentum with its successful revival of the legendary EC Comics brand. Building on that resurgence, this summer marks the launch of *Blood Type*, a gripping new vampire series spun off from the pages of *Epitaphs From the Abyss*, EC’s acclaimed horror anthology.

Scheduled for release in Summer 2025, *Blood Type* will be the first of several planned EC Comics spinoffs. The series is written by Corinna Bechko (*Cruel Universe*, *Green Lantern: Earth One*) and brought to life visually by Andrea Sorrentino (*Gideon Falls*, *Old Man Logan*), with coloring by Dave Stewart (*Hellboy*). Issue #1 features variant covers by Sorrentino, Miguel Mercado (*Buffy the Vampire Slayer*), Albert Monteys (*Universe!*), and Naomi Franq (*Black Hammer: Barbalien*).

Corinna Bechko shared her thoughts on the project: “Horror has always been my natural storytelling home, something Andrea and I deeply share. With *Blood Type*, we’ve crafted a dark, thrilling story centered around a character I instantly connected with once she hit the page. Does she return the affection? Not even close—that’s exactly what makes her compelling. She may be a vampire, but she doesn’t sparkle or crave romance. What she craves is control over a tropical paradise—and she’s ready to take it.”
Andrea Sorrentino added, “I’ve explored many genres in my career—superheroes, sci-fi—but horror is where I feel most at peace. There's something deeply satisfying about creating visuals that tap into a reader’s primal fears. When I was invited to contribute to EC Comics—long revered as a titan of horror—with a couple of short stories and now this exciting limited series, I felt honored. Collaborating again with Corinna Bechko and colorist Dave Stewart has been a dream. This project is something special, and I can't wait for readers to experience it firsthand.”

Release Date & Additional Details
*Blood Type* #1 arrives in comic shops on June 18, 2025. As a lead-up to the series, Oni Press will also publish *EC Presents: Blood Type* #0—a Free Comic Book Day 2025 special reprinting the original *Blood Type* short story.
