Dungeonborne Officially Announces Shutdown Preparation

The developers behind the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, which drew inspiration from the acclaimed Dark and Darker, have officially announced the cessation of support for the title along with the impending closure of its servers. Despite an initial buzz among fans of the genre, the game, which launched less than a year ago, struggled to maintain its player base due to dwindling player engagement and a noticeable absence of substantial updates.

While Dungeonborne's page remains active on Steam, the game has been removed from the platform's search results and is now only accessible through a direct link. Although the official reasons for the game's shutdown remain undisclosed, it's evident that the critically low player numbers were a significant factor in the decision. Since the latter part of 2024, Dungeonborne has seen peak concurrent player counts of no more than 200, with recent figures plummeting to a mere 10-15 players daily.

The servers for Dungeonborne are scheduled for permanent closure on May 28, signaling the end of the project's journey. What began with promise and enthusiasm among fans will now quietly slip into gaming history, leaving behind unrealized potential and a reminder of the challenges in sustaining a new title in a competitive market.
