Tracking the Black Flame in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne
Approximately halfway through the main storyline, during Chapter 3, the Black Flame monster, also known as Nu Udra, will appear in the Oilfield Basin. Your mission is to track it down and defeat it.
Start by leaving the base camp and heading toward Zone 9 of the Oilfield Basin, as shown in the map below.
As you journey, you'll encounter tar tracks on the ground. Interact with them, and the hunter will detect the Black Flame’s trail. This information will automatically be relayed to the scoutflies, enabling you to follow its precise location effortlessly. Proceed to Zone 9, where a massive fiery crater awaits, and trace the glowing green path indicated by the scoutflies to locate the Black Flame.
The Black Flame is a formidable opponent with tentacles that unleash fire and flame-based attacks. To simplify the battle, focus on destroying a few tentacles first. This will weaken its defenses, granting better access to its vulnerable core and increasing your chances of obtaining valuable materials post-battle.
Be sure to carry Cool Drinks to mitigate the intense heat of the region, as failure to do so may cause continuous damage to your health.
That’s how to find the Black Flame in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. For additional tips and guides, such as changing your Palico’s language or capturing monsters, visit The Escapist.
