Hideo Kojima recently expressed his gratitude to actress Shiori Kutsuna for her contributions to Death Stranding 2. He acknowledged her dedication, noting that she completed motion capture in Los Angeles, underwent 3D scanning, and provided voice recordings in both Japanese and English across various locations, all while navigating the challenges of the ongoing pandemic. Kojima's message read, "For Shiori Kutsuna, that's it. I appreciate all of your hard work. Fantastic work, much obliged!" Kutsuna has been involved with the project since the fall of 2022.
At the Tokyo Game Show 2024, Hideo Kojima unveiled new materials for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The presentation included several two-minute cutscenes that introduced the protagonist's allies. Notable characters include Tarman, played by George Miller, who captains the mobile base Magellan across tar lakes, and Dollman, portrayed by Fatih Akin, a living doll and former medium who has lost his human form. Léa Seydoux reprises her role as Fragile. Elle Fanning's mysterious character, named Tomorrow, was discovered in a location resembling the realm of the dead, echoing the original game's tagline, "Tomorrow is in your hands."
One of the cutscenes features the characters singing "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head," a classic song by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, while interacting with a pregnant woman named Rainy, played by Shiori Kutsuna.
