Dark & Darker Mobile could be getting a name change from Krafton

By PeytonApr 14,2025

It appears that Dark and Darker Mobile, the eagerly awaited smartphone version of the hack 'n slash extraction dungeon crawler, is on the brink of a significant transformation. Recent reports indicate that Krafton is not only planning to change the game's name but is also severing its ties with the developer, Ironmace Studio.

This development comes at a challenging time for Ironmace, following a court ruling that mandates them to pay $6 million in damages to Nexon. The lawsuit stems from allegations that Ironmace, founded by former Nexon employees, utilized trade secrets from a canceled project known as P3 to develop Dark and Darker.

Despite Krafton's assertion that the name change is unrelated to the lawsuit, they have confirmed the termination of their global licensing agreement with Ironmace. This means that Dark and Darker Mobile, or whatever it will be renamed, will proceed as a standalone release.

ytDarkest of dungeonsThe ethical dimensions of this lawsuit are complex, especially considering Ironmace initially accused Nexon of copyright infringement. Ironically, even after ending their partnership, Krafton seems poised to rebrand and move forward independently. This situation suggests that the genre's popularity may lead to more such releases in the future.

For fans eagerly anticipating Dark and Darker Mobile, the good news is that Krafton plans to adhere to the previously announced global launch schedule. However, should there be any changes or further developments, we will keep you informed.

We hope that the full launch of Dark and Darker Mobile will uphold the high standards we highlighted in our review.
