CD Projekt RED is intensifying its efforts on the much-awaited sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, as indicated by recent job postings that offer a glimpse into the game's development. One crucial detail is that the sequel, known as Project Orion, will stick to a first-person perspective, dashing hopes of those who were eager for a third-person viewpoint.

A job listing for a Senior Gameplay Animator emphasizes the need for expertise in crafting detailed first-person animations, specifically for weapon interactions and gameplay mechanics. The absence of any reference to third-person perspectives in the job description strongly suggests that CD Projekt RED has opted to maintain the first-person viewpoint exclusively.

Another job opening, this time for an Encounter Designer, sheds light on an innovative feature—the "most realistic crowd system ever seen in games." This system will dynamically adapt to the player's actions, fostering immersive environments where NPCs interact seamlessly with the surrounding world. The role demands collaboration with various teams to design complex scenarios that offer multiple solutions, leveraging NPC behaviors, interactive objects, loot points, and environmental storytelling.

Furthermore, one of the listings hints at the inclusion of multiplayer functionality in the sequel, although it is still in the preliminary stages of development.

Cyberpunk 2, codenamed Project Orion, is set to be developed using Unreal Engine 5, which promises state-of-the-art graphics and technological advancements. In a related note, a senior quest designer at CD Projekt RED disclosed that they personally provided voice work for some intimate scenes in Cyberpunk 2077. Meanwhile, fans of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 have spotted a character that pays tribute to Johnny Silverhand from Cyberpunk 2077.
