The journey from script to screen for Daredevil: Born Again involved numerous revisions, but one episode remained unchanged: Episode 5, which star Charlie Cox considers his least favorite of the season.
“I’m not sure if this will intrigue anyone, but one episode stayed exactly as originally written,” Cox shared in a recent interview with The Playlist.
“It’s the bank episode, filmed before the strike. It was part of the initial draft, and honestly, it didn’t quite resonate with me.”
Cox told the outlet he “voiced concerns as much as I could.” The episode centers on Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, caught in a bank heist while seeking a loan for the law firm he runs with Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll).
“It felt a bit dated, like something from a 1970s show,” Cox remarked. “With today’s technology, the theft device seemed too simplistic.”

Despite his reservations, Cox noted that fans embraced the episode’s unique appeal.
“I was vocal about my doubts, but I’ve heard from so many fans who loved it. It just shows how subjective taste is,” Cox said. “Surprisingly, it’s one of the highest-rated Disney shows based on internal metrics.”
We also enjoyed Episode 5. In our Daredevil: Born Again Episodes 5 and 6 Review, we noted: “It’s executed so well. I can’t recall the last time a Marvel show kept me smiling throughout and held my attention from start to finish. This episode highlights what makes Matt Murdock such a compelling hero, even out of costume.”
