The January 16th reveal event shed light on the narrative-driven gameplay. Players embody Coen, a Dawnwalker navigating a fictional 14th-century Medieval European world, Vale Sangora. Narrative director Jakub Szamalek describes Coen as an emotionally complex and relatable protagonist, a departure from typical game heroes. The trailer introduces Brencis, an ancient vampire controlling Vale Sangora, setting the stage for Coen's desperate 30-day, 30-night race to save his family. While the game features a time constraint, developers assure players will have ample playtime.

Coen's vampiric abilities are showcased, including superhuman agility and magical prowess. Many questions remain, but Rebel Wolves addressed some through their official Discord server's FAQ channel.

Dawnwalkers, explained in the FAQ, are unique beings, neither fully human nor vampire. The game's magic system is grounded in the occult, focusing on rituals, amulets, and summonings, rather than flashy spellcasting.

A Narrative Sandbox Experience with Diverse Characters

Coen, cursed with silver poisoning, embarks on a perilous quest. However, the game emphasizes player agency within a "narrative sandbox," offering numerous paths to achieve the central goal. This nonlinear approach ensures a dynamic world shaped by player choices.

To preserve the single-player experience, multiplayer and co-op modes are absent. However, romanceable characters, including various races like uriashi and kobolds, will enrich Coen's journey.

Developed by Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, The Blood of Dawnwalker is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, though a release date is yet to be announced.
