AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT Confirmed: Official Release Announced

By ThomasJul 01,2025

At Computex 2025, AMD made waves with the official announcement of the Radeon RX 9060 XT, marking a strategic follow-up to the earlier launch of the RX 9070 XT in March. While details remain limited, the hardware specs hint at a compelling entry into the mid-range GPU market tailored for 1080p gaming enthusiasts.

The Radeon RX 9060 XT comes equipped with 32 Compute Units and a generous 16GB of GDDR6 memory—an impressive configuration that sets it apart from its competitors in the same price range. Given its compact design and modest power requirements, this card is expected to deliver efficient performance with a Total Board Power (TBP) ranging between 150W and 182W—noticeably lower than its more powerful sibling, the RX 9070 XT.

Naturally, with half the Compute Units and reduced power consumption compared to the RX 9070 XT, the RX 9060 XT will likely offer lower raw performance. However, this decrease in power should translate to a more accessible price point, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious gamers. Unfortunately, AMD has yet to disclose specific pricing or a release date for this new graphics card.

The Mid-Range Market Heats Up

While the lack of pricing details can be frustrating, industry trends suggest that the RX 9060 XT will likely compete directly with the Intel Arc B580 and the newly launched RTX 5060. These rival GPUs have power draws of 145W and 190W respectively, and both debuted within the $250–$300 range. It's reasonable to expect AMD to aim for a similar target, positioning the RX 9060 XT as a strong contender in this competitive segment.

Once available, the Radeon RX 9060 XT will give consumers a rare three-way choice in the sub-$300 GPU category. What makes the RX 9060 XT stand out is its substantial 16GB VRAM allocation—surpassing the 8GB found on the RTX 5060 and the 12GB offered by the Intel Arc B580. This extra memory headroom could provide better longevity as modern games continue to demand more video memory over time.

Of course, real-world performance will ultimately determine where this GPU stands among its peers. But with a smart balance of power efficiency, ample VRAM, and potential affordability, the RX 9060 XT may very well become one of the most appealing budget-friendly options in 2025’s evolving graphics card landscape.
