During Dell's Memorial Day Sale, you can snag various configurations of the Alienware 16 Area-51 and Alienware 18 Area-51, all featuring the latest Nvidia Blackwell GPUs such as the RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5080, and RTX 5090. Memorial Day Alienware 16 Area-51 Deals

The Alienware 16 Area-51, while less imposing than its 18-inch counterpart, remains a top-tier gaming laptop focused on power and cooling. Weighing 7.5 pounds and just 0.85 inches at its thinnest, it's also equipped with a 360W power brick and best used plugged in. The smaller form factor includes a 16" display and a standard laptop keyboard without a numpad or ethernet port. Despite this, it maintains the same high-end internal specs, including the Intel Core Ultra 9 HX processor and up to an Nvidia RTX 5090 GPU, thanks to its effective cooling system.

Four models are available at a discount for Memorial Day: the $2,850 model with RTX 5070 Ti, two models at $2,999.99 and $3,150 with RTX 5080, and the $3,650 model featuring the RTX 5090.

This CPU / GPU Combo Excels in Any Game

The Area-51 is powered by the formidable Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, which offers a max turbo frequency of 5.4GHz, 24 cores, and 40MB of L2 cache. According to Passmark, it's one of the fastest mobile processors available, rivaling the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D.

Notebookcheck reports that the RTX 5070 Ti mobile GPU is a significant upgrade, matching the performance of the RTX 4080, while the RTX 5070 performs similarly to the RTX 4070. Both should handle games smoothly at the native 1920x1200 resolution.

Tom's Hardware notes that the RTX 5080 mobile GPU is 15-20% more powerful than the RTX 4080 it replaces, and even outperforms the RTX 4090 by about 5%. It's a better value compared to the RTX 5090, offering nearly the same performance for a much lower price. With the QHD+ (2560x1600) display on the Alienware Area-51, the RTX 5080 should deliver high framerates, especially with DLSS 4 support.

The Area-51: New Style, More Power, Better Cooling

The 2025 Alienware Area-51 features a magnesium alloy chassis and an advanced cooling system designed to manage the latest high-performance components. It includes more fans, larger cutouts for airflow, increased copper usage, and a new thermal interface material for superior heat dissipation. Dell claims it can handle up to 240W TDP without increasing noise levels.

The design showcases smooth contours with rounded edges and soft corners, and the hinges are mostly hidden for a sleek look. As expected from Alienware, there are extensive RGB LED customization options. Connectivity includes three USB Type-A 3.2 15Gbps ports (one with PowerShare), two Thunderbolt / USB Type-C ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a card reader. The 16" model weighs 7.5 pounds, while the 18" model weighs 9.6 pounds.
