Alan Wake 2 Tops 2 million Sales and Finally Starts Turning a Profit

By AaliyahMar 19,2025

Alan Wake 2 has surpassed two million copies sold worldwide. This builds on the impressive 1.3 million units sold between October 2023 and March 2024, a period that already established it as Remedy's fastest-selling game. Remedy's latest financial report credits this milestone, along with the release of The Lake House expansion and the Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition, for enabling the game to begin accruing royalties after recouping its development and marketing costs.

Looking ahead, Remedy revealed that Control 2, developed in partnership with Annapurna, has completed its production readiness stage and will enter full production at the end of February 2025. Simultaneously, the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake continues to make steady progress in full production.

Remedy's multiplayer Control spin-off, FBC: Firebreak, remains in full production following a successful closed technical test in December. This test allowed external players to evaluate matchmaking and backend services. While a release date hasn't been announced, FBC: Firebreak, which will be self-published by Remedy, is slated for release later in 2025.

CEO Tero Virtala expressed confidence in the company's position, stating they are well-positioned to begin their strategic period and have set achievable targets.

IGN's review of Alan Wake 2 awarded the game a 9/10, praising it as a superb survival horror sequel that significantly surpasses its predecessor.
