AGDQ 2025 Raises Over $2.5 Million For Charity

Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, exceeding $2.5 Million for Cancer Prevention

The Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, held from January 5th to 13th, successfully raised over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. This impressive total surpasses the 2024 event by over $100,000. The event featured a diverse lineup of speedruns, showcasing various games and genres, including popular titles like Crazy Taxi and Super Metroid.

AGDQ, a prominent annual winter event, is one of two major Games Done Quick (GDQ) marathons held yearly, complemented by the Summer Games Done Quick in July. GDQ also organizes smaller events throughout the year, such as Frame Fatales and GDQ Express. Notably, a special Disaster Relief Done Quick event was held in October 2024, raising over $45,000 for Direct Relief in response to Hurricane Helene.

The AGDQ 2025 event, held in Pittsburgh, kicked off with a Pikmin (Switch) speedrun by Ray0ken. The event's success significantly contributes to the Prevent Cancer Foundation's mission of early detection, prevention, research, and public awareness programs. This partnership between GDQ and PCF has a long history, with over $26 million raised collectively across various GDQ events.

A standout moment of AGDQ 2025 was a creative Crazy Taxi speedrun. Speedrunner Chuckles825, overcoming the challenge of copyrighted music, collaborated with a live band performing covers of the game's soundtrack. This innovative 18-minute run generated over $24,000 in donations.

The event concluded with a thrilling randomized four-player race of Super Metroid (SNES), resulting in a nail-biting finish with two runners, Eddie and Andy, completing the run within a single second of each other. The next GDQ event, Summer Games Done Quick 2025, will be held in Minneapolis on July 6th, benefiting Doctors Without Borders.
