プランダーストームは限定的なファン層はいましたが、昨年の初リリース時には『World of Warcraft』プレイヤーから温かい歓迎を受けました。短い中断を経てシーズン2が迫る中、ブリザードはプランダーストームを数々の調整と、プレイヤーが解放できる新たな報酬と共に再導入しました。今年の主な変更点は報酬システムの刷新です——評価（Renown）を稼ぐ代わりに、試合中に直接「プランダー」を獲得し、プランダーストアで使用できるようになりました。

以前のすべての報酬は引き続き購入可能です。すべてを既に集めているか、利益を変換したい場合、プランダーをトレーダーのテンダーと交換でき、トレーディングポストで使用可能です。
