Tute is a beloved card game that enjoys immense popularity in Spain and has also found a significant following in Latin America. This engaging game can be played by 2 to 5 players individually, or by four players forming teams of two, adding a strategic layer to the gameplay.
The objective of Tute is to be the first player or team to reach a predetermined number of points. The game utilizes a Spanish deck consisting of forty cards, which adds a unique twist to the gameplay.
In Tute, the card hierarchy is distinct, ranked from highest to lowest as follows: Ace (11 points), 3 (10 points), King (4 points), Knight (3 points), Jack (2 points), and then 7, 6, 5, 4, and 2 (white cards, which carry no points). Understanding this hierarchy is crucial for mastering the game.
The gameplay begins with the first card determining the leading suit, and players are required to follow suit if possible. If a player cannot follow suit, they have the freedom to play any card, including trump cards. The trump suit's highest card always wins the trick, but if no trump cards are played, the highest card of the leading suit takes the trick.
To maximize your score, players can "Sing 20 and 40," a strategic move to earn additional points, and "Sing Tute" to secure a win, adding depth and excitement to the game.
