The numbers represent the lengths of consecutive filled-in squares in each row and column. For instance, a clue of "4 8 3" indicates three groups of filled squares (four, eight, and three), separated by at least one blank square.

Strategic thinking is key. Players must deduce which cells should be filled (boxes) and which should remain empty (spaces). Spaces are just as crucial as boxes, aiding in later stages of solving.
