Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will indeed support cloud saves, putting to rest concerns sparked by an earlier disclaimer. Initially, Nintendo's website for the game's Switch 2 edition stated that it would not support the Nintendo Switch Online paid membership's Save Data Cloud backup feature. This had fans worried, as reported by IGN last week, about the potential lack of cloud save functionality in this much-anticipated title.
However, Nintendo has now updated its website with new information. While the page for Donkey Kong Bananza has removed any mention of cloud saves, the Tears of the Kingdom page now clarifies that "Save data created in the second save data slot in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition cannot be transferred to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch." This updated disclaimer reassures Switch 2 owners that they will be able to transfer their existing Switch 1 saves to the new console, although transferring saves back to the original Switch will not be possible, as noted by Eurogamer.
The same message has been added to the page for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, indicating a consistent approach to save data transfers across these titles.
In other news, pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 have gone live, maintaining the price at $449.99. The response has been as enthusiastic as expected. For more details, you can check out IGN's Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide.
