Nintendo Direct reveals Virtual Boy classics for Switch 1/2

Nintendo stuns fans with the surprise revival of Virtual Boy.

The Virtual Boy Nintendo Classics collection arrives February 17, 2026, accessible through Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack for Switch 1 and 2 consoles, featuring 14 legacy titles rolling out progressively.

Players will require a specialized controller accessory that authentically replicates the original Virtual Boy experience, with a cardboard alternative option also offered.

Nintendo's official announcement reads:

Iconic stereoscopic 3D games from Nintendo's Virtual Boy platform are coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. Gameplay requires Joy-Con or Joy-Con 2 controllers alongside our faithful Virtual Boy hardware recreation - complete with signature stereoscopic 3D effects - when docked with Nintendo Switch 2 or Switch systems. Rediscover classics including Mario's Tennis, Galactic Pinball, Teleroboxer and others through scheduled releases. Virtual Boy - Nintendo Classics launches February 17, 2026 for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members.
