Snapchat's 2024 Year in Review: Your Snap Recap
Looking back on the past year? Many apps offer year-end recaps, and Snapchat is joining the party with its new 2024 Snap Recap feature.
What is Snap Recap?
Unlike last year, Snapchat now offers a year-end recap. Similar to Spotify Wrapped or Twitch recaps, Snap Recap compiles your year's Snapchat activity into a fun, short video. However, instead of detailed statistics, it features a single Snap from each month, offering a visual journey through your 2024. The recap seamlessly transitions into other Memories features, allowing you to explore past events documented on Snapchat.
Accessing Your 2024 Snap Recap
Your 2024 Snap Recap is automatically generated. To view it:
- On the main Snapchat camera screen, swipe up to access Memories. (Don't press the shutter button.)
- Your 2024 Snap Recap should appear as a highlighted video.
Tap the video (avoiding the share icon) to start the recap. The video plays automatically, showcasing a selected Snap from each month. You can tap the screen to advance through the recap. You can save, edit, share, or even add it to your Story, just like any other Snap. Privacy settings remain the same; it's private unless you choose to share it.
Why Don't I Have a Snap Recap?
If your Snap Recap isn't appearing, it might be due to a staggered rollout; it may not yet be generated. Snapchat indicates that several factors influence recap generation, including the number of saved Snaps. Infrequent Snapchat usage might also prevent a recap from being created. Unfortunately, if it doesn't appear after some time, you can't request one.
