Transformers Gameplay Resurfaces Post-Cancellation

Recently canceled Transformers: Reactivate, a co-op game unveiled by Splash Damage in 2022, resurfaces in leaked gameplay footage. The game, a collaboration with Hasbro, envisioned players controlling Generation 1 Autobots and Decepticons against an alien threat, "the Legion."

Limited glimpses of the game existed before its cancellation, primarily through leaks and related merchandise. Following the cancellation announcement, footage from a 2020 build has re-emerged online.

This leaked footage showcases Bumblebee navigating a destroyed city, seamlessly transforming between robot and vehicle modes, and utilizing various weapons. The gameplay bears resemblance to Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, but features the Legion as adversaries instead of Decepticons.

Despite some unfinished textures, the footage exhibits a polished aesthetic, including environmental destruction. An incomplete, silent cutscene concludes the clip, depicting Bumblebee's arrival in a ravaged New York City and communication with an ally, Devin, regarding the Legion's assault.

Numerous other leaks from 2020 predate the game's official announcement and subsequent cancellation. Although Transformers: Reactivate remains unplayable, the leaked footage offers a glimpse into Splash Damage's ambitious, yet ultimately unsuccessful, Transformers project.
