Tony Hawk Hints at a 25th Anniversary Celebration for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
With the 25th anniversary of the iconic Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series fast approaching, skateboarding legend Tony Hawk has confirmed that Activision is working on something special to commemorate the occasion. In a recent appearance on YouTube's Mythical Kitchen, Hawk revealed, "I've been talking to Activision again, which is insanely exciting. We're working on something—This is the first time I've said that publicly." While details remain scarce, Hawk assured fans that the project "will be something the fans will truly appreciate."
The Future of THPS: Remasters or a New Game?
The original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater launched on September 29, 1999, and the series has enjoyed immense success over the years. The 2020 release of the remastered Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 (THPS 1+2) reignited interest in the franchise. While plans for remasters of THPS 3 and 4 were previously discussed, the closure of Vicarious Visions stalled that project. Hawk previously expressed disappointment over the cancellation, citing the studio's dissolution and Activision's restructuring.
The Anniversary Celebration Begins
In anticipation of the anniversary, the official THPS social media channels have already begun celebrating, sharing new artwork and announcing a giveaway for the THPS 1+2 Collector's Edition.
Speculation Mounts
The recent news has fueled speculation of a new game announcement, possibly coinciding with a rumored Sony State of Play event this month. However, neither Tony Hawk nor Activision has confirmed the nature of the project, leaving fans eagerly awaiting further details. Will it be a new installment, or a revival of the canceled remaster project? Only time will tell.
