Stellar Blade Dev Shift Up Posts Record Year, Sales of PC Version Still Expected to Outsell PS5

By PatrickFeb 21,2025

Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, announced record-breaking financial results for 2024. Stellar Blade generated a remarkable $43 million in royalties, and the upcoming PC release is projected to surpass PlayStation 5 sales.

According to Game World Observer, Shift Up's 2024 financial report shows a 30.4% year-over-year revenue increase, reaching $151.4 million. A significant portion, $43.2 million, stems directly from Stellar Blade royalties.

The success shows no signs of waning. Shift Up anticipates stronger PC sales than the console version, particularly within the Asian market. While a Stellar Blade sequel is highly anticipated, the company plans to unveil its new title, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025.

Project Witches, unveiled in 2024 following Stellar Blade's PS5 launch, preempts any immediate sequel development. However, Shift Up has expressed interest in exploring future installments within the Stellar Blade franchise.

Stellar Blade casts players as Eve, battling unknown invaders to reclaim Earth in fast-paced action RPG combat. The game achieved a 7/10 rating from IGN and enjoyed considerable success, rapidly selling over one million copies. While praised for its action gameplay, IGN's review noted that underdeveloped characters, a weak narrative, and frustrating RPG mechanics hindered its overall potential.
