In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players can embark on a side quest titled "For Science!" This quest, a relatively short but rewarding endeavor, grants access to the STC Malachite facility.
Initiating "For Science!"
The quest begins within the Chemical Plant's Central Elevator area. Upon approaching, players will hear Yaryk Mongoose contact Skif via radio, requesting a meeting. Locate Mongoose on the first floor (easily accessible by vaulting a railing). He'll explain the need to activate a second measuring device atop a nearby silo, initiating the quest.
Reaching the Silo's Summit
Ascend the building's stairs, dispatching any rodents encountered along the way. Exit through a broken window, utilizing an external ladder to reach the silo walkways. Be prepared for electro anomalies; equipping appropriate gear is advised. Proceed along the silo's top to activate the second device. Activating the device will attract a Bloodsucker horde. Players can choose to eliminate them or evade them to reach Mongoose.
Confronting Yaryk Mongoose
Upon confronting Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unforeseen consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose for endangering Skif or accept the reward peacefully. Neither choice significantly impacts the game's progression. A peaceful resolution yields the Malachite Pass and some additional rewards. This pass allows entry to the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible via the main storyline.
