Skate Playtest Now Available on Consoles!
The highly anticipated skateboarding game, skate., is finally available for playtesting on Xbox and PlayStation consoles! This follows a period of PC-exclusive testing that began in mid-2022. After a 15-year hiatus since the last Skate game, console players can now experience the thrill.
skate.'s development has been a long journey. Following the release of Skate 3 in 2010, the franchise was seemingly put on hold. However, persistent fan demand, fueled by the #Skate4 hashtag, led EA to establish a dedicated studio and revive the series. While early access is planned for 2025, this console playtest marks significant progress.
The playtest is accessible via the skate. Insider program, requiring registration. A recent video from the development team confirmed more Black hairstyle options and addressed the previously announced "Fall 2024" playtest timeframe. While specific gameplay details, such as the replay editor, remain under wraps, the team hinted at further features to come.
skate. is confirmed as a free-to-play, live-service title set in the fictional city of San Vansterdam. Inspired by San Vanelona, Port Carverton, and real-world locations, the city is still under development. While a map leaked in 2023, its current state likely differs significantly. Fans can either join the playtest or patiently await the wider release.
Other Skate Games to Enjoy in the Interim
While skate.'s early access launch is targeted for 2025, delays are always a possibility. Fortunately, skateboarding game enthusiasts have several other titles to enjoy until the official release.
