Silent Hill f becomes the first entry in the franchise to receive Japan's strictest 18+ rating certification.
The Japanese reveal trailer, which premiered recently, displays international age ratings: Mature (US), PEGI 18 (Europe), and Japan's CERO:Z - marking its unprecedented adult classification in the series' home country.
While subject to change during development, Automaton notes this contrasts sharply with previous Japanese-developed Silent Hill titles (1-4) which received CERO:C (15+), while Western-developed entries typically got CERO:C or CERO:D (17+).
Even Bloober Team's controversial Silent Hill 2 Remake secured only a CERO:C in Japan, despite mature ratings abroad.
Konami's recent Silent Hill Transmission focused entirely on Silent Hill f - the franchise's first mainline entry in 13 years, transporting players to 1960s Japan. Writer Ryukishi07 (When They Cry) crafts protagonist Hinako Shimizu's harrowing story of societal pressures manifesting as psychological horror.

The trailer's disturbing imagery shows Hinako's deteriorating mental state through mutilated school uniforms and visceral wounds. Though gameplay remains scarce, the preview establishes an unsettling floral Otherworld theme replacing the series' signature rust aesthetic.
With no confirmed release date and complete radio silence regarding No Code's Townfall project, Silent Hill f currently stands as Konami's primary horror focus moving forward.
