After two failed launches and months of anticipation, Rune Slayer has arrived, and it's fantastic! While incredibly fun, the game has a steep learning curve, especially for MMORPG newcomers. Fear not, this guide will help you conquer your Rune Slayer journey.

Here are some crucial tips we wish we'd known starting out:
Don't Randomly Attack Other Players
Screenshot by The EscapistInitially, Rune Slayer's full-loot PvP worried us. It turns out our fears were unfounded...mostly. Death in Rune Slayer has no real penalty; you simply respawn. However, attacking players incurs a bounty. More kills mean a larger bounty, resulting in greater item loss upon your own death. Essentially, full-loot PvP is self-inflicted. Unless you're strategically ganking with friends, avoid attacking other players.
Craft Bags Immediately
Screenshot by The EscapistLimited inventory and bank space are quickly apparent. Fortunately, you can craft bags. Two can be equipped simultaneously, starting with the Cotton Bag. Find Cotton north of Wayshire and Flax south (beware of tougher mobs in the south). Each Cotton Bag adds 10 slots—craft them ASAP.
Your Pets Don't Actually Die
Screenshot by The EscapistContrary to popular belief, your pets don't perish when their health reaches zero. Instead, they become unavailable for five minutes. Check the cooldown by holding T. After five minutes, resummon them using the same key. Bonus tip: Quickly heal your pet by storing and retrieving it at the stable master (you have one free slot).
Accept Every Quest
Screenshot by The Escapist Rune Slayer boasts a plethora of quests, mostly unremarkable "kill X" tasks. To streamline your progress, accept every quest you encounter, including those from the job board. Often, quests can be combined, leading to unexpected efficiency.
Craft Everything At Least Once
Screenshot by The EscapistWhile prioritizing necessary crafts is vital, use spare materials to experiment. Crafting often unlocks new, potentially superior items. For example, smelting Iron Ore unlocked a range of Iron Armor recipes for us. Don't hoard materials; craft away!
Join a Guild
While Rune Slayer is solo-friendly, tougher enemies later require group coordination. Guilds provide the easiest way to find groups. Use general chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord to find a guild and tackle challenging foes together.
That's it! Enjoy Rune Slayer! For further assistance, check out the Rune Slayer Trello and Discord.
