Star Wars Celebration has unveiled our first glimpse of Rory McCann stepping into the role of Baylan Skoll for Ahsoka Season 2. McCann inherits the character following the passing of original actor Ray Stevenson.
Though McCann hasn't been seen performing yet, attendees at the Ahsoka panel received this exclusive first-look image.
Stevenson - renowned for his performances in Thor, RRR, Punisher: War Zone, and Rome - tragically passed away due to a sudden illness just three months before Ahsoka's debut. Many fans consider his portrayal of Baylan to have been Season 1's standout performance.
Ahsoka creator Dave Filoni reflected that Stevenson's loss presented significant challenges for Season 2's development, remembering him as "the most beautiful presence both on camera and behind the scenes."
The creative team shared additional Season 2 details, confirming Hayden Christensen's return as Anakin Skywalker alongside fan-favorite characters including Admiral Ackbar, Zeb, and Chopper.
In our Season 1 review, we noted Ahsoka initially "works through growing pains establishing characters and concepts from Dave Filoni's animated Star Wars series, but ultimately delivers classic Star Wars magic with its blend of deep lore, witty humor, and spectacular battles that both honor tradition and chart fresh territory."
