Path of Exile 2's Endgame Rituals: A Comprehensive Guide
Path of Exile 2 introduces several endgame events, including Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revamped mechanic from previous PoE leagues. We'll cover initiating Ritual events, understanding their mechanics, utilizing the Ritual Passive Skill Tree, tackling the Pinnacle boss, and maximizing rewards from the Tribute and Favour system.
Identifying and Initiating Rituals
On the Atlas, Ritual Altar map nodes are marked with a distinctive red pentagram icon. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, inserted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.
Once in a Ritual map, several Altars will spawn. Each map features a shared random modifier affecting enemy types or mechanics (e.g., massive rat waves, life-draining blood pools).
Interact with an Altar after noting its modifiers. A large enemy wave will spawn; remain within the designated circle to complete the Ritual. Leaving the circle prematurely ends the event and forfeits rewards. Completing all Rituals on a map marks it as complete.
The King in the Mists: The Pinnacle Boss
The 'An Audience With The King' currency item, obtainable through Favours, unlocks a fight with the King in the Mists, the Ritual Pinnacle Boss. This boss shares mechanics with the Act 1 Cruel version found in Freythorn (useful for practice).
Defeating the King in the Mists rewards two Ritual Passive Skill points and a chance at unique PoE 2 items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.
Mastering the Ritual Passive Skill Tree
The Ritual Passive Skill Tree (accessible via the Atlas Passive Skill Tree screen) enhances Rituals. Nodes modify Tribute requirements, improve rewards, and boost unique currency drop rates.
The tree features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing the King in the Mists' difficulty. Defeating the King in the Mists grants two skill points, necessitating increased difficulty for each new Notable node.
Prioritize these Notable nodes:
Notable Node | Effect | Requirements |
---|---|---|
Promised Devotion | 25% increased Altar damage; 50% less Tribute and faster Favour appearance for Deferring Favours. | N/A |
From The Mists | Two extra enemy packs in Rituals. | N/A |
Reinvigorated Sacrifices | Revived monsters gain Toughness and damage, but no longer penalize Tribute. | From The Mists |
Spreading Darkness | Four Ritual Altars per map. | N/A |
Between Two Worlds | Always includes a Wildwood Wisp (increased Tribute). | Spreading Darkness |
Ominous Portents | Faster monster waves, but Favours have a 50% higher chance to contain an Omen. | N/A |
He Approaches | Revived monsters have a 20% chance to be Magic or Rare; 50% chance of 'An Audience With The King'. | Ominous Portents |
Tempting Offers | Extra Favour re-roll; 25% cheaper re-rolls. | N/A |
Maximize Your Rewards: Tribute and Favours
Completing Rituals grants Tribute, used to purchase randomized Favours. More completed Altars increase Tribute and unlock higher-tier rewards (including Rare items and high-tier Currencies). 'An Audience With The King' is exclusively obtained through Favours.
Omen items, powerful consumables that modify other currency items, are highly sought-after rewards.
List of PoE 2 Omen Currencies:
Omen of Sinistral Alchemy, Omen of Dextral Alchemy, Omen of Sinistral Coronation, Omen of Dextral Coronation, Omen of Refreshment, Omen of Resurgence, Omen of Corruption, Omen of Amelioration, Omen of Sinistral Exaltation, Omen of Dextral Exaltation, Omen of Greater Annulment, Omen of Whittling, Omen of Sinistral Erasure, Omen of Dextral Erasure, Omen of Sinistral Annulment, Omen of Dextral Annulment, Omen of Greater Exaltation.
