The Pokémon Company officially announces the North American debut of the Pokémon Fossil Museum in May 2026.
A Fascinating Crossover Between Pokémon and Paleontology
For those unfamiliar, this unique exhibition - which originally launched in Japan - showcases reconstructed Pokémon "fossils" alongside actual prehistoric specimens. The traveling exhibition makes its first international stop at Chicago's Field Museum starting May 22, 2026.
"Visitors will encounter life-sized Pokémon models displayed alongside genuine fossils from our collection," explains museum representatives. "You'll see scientific casts of famous specimens like SUE the T. rex and our Chicago Archaeopteryx paired with Fossil Pokémon like Tyrantrum and Archeops. Can you spot all the evolutionary parallels, Trainers?"

Can't make it to Chicago? The Pokémon Company and Toyohashi Museum of Natural History have created an immersive virtual experience allowing fans worldwide to explore the entire collection digitally. The online version features detailed comparisons between creatures like tyrannosaurus and their Pokémon counterparts such as Tyrantrum.
In other Pokémon-related developments, authorities in the UK recently apprehended a suspect in possession of stolen Pokémon cards valued at £250,000 (approximately $332,500). The discovery occurred during a police raid in Greater Manchester, prompting a humorous official statement: "Gotta catch 'em all."
