Pokémon TCG Pocket is making significant changes to its trading system, addressing player concerns about accessibility and restrictions. The update completely removes Trade Tokens, replacing them with Shinedust. Shinedust is earned by opening booster packs and receiving duplicate cards already in your Card Dex. Existing Trade Tokens will be automatically converted to Shinedust.
Further changes are planned, including adjustments to Shinedust usage for flair and a new in-game feature allowing players to share cards they wish to trade.
The initial trading system faced criticism due to its reliance on scarce Trade Tokens and restrictive trading parameters. These limitations were necessary to prevent in-game abuse, inherent to digital trading environments.
While these improvements are welcome, the implementation timeline extends into autumn, suggesting a slower-than-desired pace for addressing these issues. Players eager for immediate fixes may find the wait frustrating.
