Fields of Mistria: Can You Actually Date? A Deep Dive into Romance
While Fields of Mistria is lauded for its well-developed romance options and engaging storylines, the simple answer to whether you can go on "dates" is currently no – at least not in the traditional sense. However, the existing romance system, even after significant playtime, remains incredibly rewarding, justifying its price tag.
The November 2024 update significantly enhanced the romance system. The maximum relationship level increased from four hearts to six, with new heart events added for each romanceable NPC to celebrate relationship milestones. Cutscenes unlock at two, four, and six hearts, and future updates are planned to introduce eight- and ten-heart events. However, the March 2025 update won't expand the heart level cap or add new events.

Despite the pause in adding new romance features, the existing system shines. The dialogue is rich and realistically flirty, creating a compelling romantic atmosphere. While early cutscenes might appear platonic, their ambiguity allows for romantic interpretation, building a satisfyingly slow-burn romance.
The game's most recent update introduced the Shooting Star Festival, a summer event allowing for date-like interactions with eligible NPCs (requiring four hearts). While stargazing with Caldarus is possible, it doesn't currently trigger a date at the Summit location, as it does with other characters. This might change with the March 2025 update, which will focus on unlocking the dragon's romance storyline.
In conclusion, while full-fledged dates aren't yet a feature, Fields of Mistria offers a deeply engaging romance system that will keep players invested until further updates arrive.
