Overwatch 2 Drops Skin Giveaway 24 Hours After Sale

By AriaFeb 22,2025

Blizzard's handling of the Overwatch 2 Cyber DJ skin has ignited another controversy. Initially sold for $19.99, the skin was later revealed to be a free reward for watching a Twitch stream. This sparked outrage among players who purchased the skin before the announcement.

The Cyber DJ skin, initially available for purchase, became free after a one-hour Twitch viewing requirement was announced for the February 12th Overwatch 2 Spotlight event.

This isn't the first time Blizzard has faced criticism for selling cosmetic items only to offer them later for free. Players are demanding refunds, citing unfair practices. While the skin has been removed from the store, Blizzard hasn't addressed refund requests.

Facing stiff competition, particularly from Marvel Rivals, Blizzard is unveiling significant gameplay changes at the February 12th Overwatch 2 Spotlight event. New maps, heroes, and other content will be showcased. The event will also feature prominent streamers given an exclusive preview at Blizzard headquarters.
