Nintendo has revealed the Switch 2 Welcome Tour, a unique game launching alongside the Switch 2 to guide players through its innovative hardware. Notably, this is not a bundled software but a standalone, paid digital title.
Introduced during today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, the Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour offers a "virtual exhibition" of the new console. According to Nintendo, "through tech demos, minigames, and interactive elements, players will explore the system’s features in an engaging and immersive way."
The Direct showcased a player avatar navigating an oversized Switch 2, discovering its features and facts. The experience resembles a virtual museum, complete with minigames like Speed Golf, Dodge the Spiked Balls, and a Maracas Physics Demo.
During the stream and in a press release, Nintendo confirmed the Switch 2 Welcome Tour will be available for purchase on the Nintendo eShop on the console’s launch day.
While an innovative concept, fans have questioned why this is a paid digital-only title rather than a free pack-in for the Nintendo Switch 2. Pricing details remain undisclosed at this time.
In contrast, the Switch 2 will also launch with titles like Mario Kart World, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, and Deltarune Chapters 1 through 4. While the showcase is appealing, it will compete for attention amid other launch titles.
The Nintendo Switch 2 launches on June 5, 2025, priced at $449.99 USD, or $499.99 for the bundle including Mario Kart World.
