Nintendo Switch 2 Leaks Fuel Speculation

A purported Nintendo Switch 2 logo has surfaced online, potentially confirming the console's official name. The upcoming console, whose existence was confirmed by Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa in early 2024, is anticipated to be fully revealed before March 2025, with a launch expected later this year.

While the exact release date remains shrouded in secrecy following Furukawa's May 2024 announcement, the prevailing assumption, fueled by numerous leaks and rumors, is that it will indeed be called the Nintendo Switch 2. Many believe the console will retain a similar design to its predecessor, suggesting a direct sequel branding strategy.

According to Comicbook, a logo nearly identical to the original Switch logo, featuring stylized Joy-Cons above the "Nintendo Switch" text, has been leaked on Bluesky by Necro Felipe of Universo Nintendo. The only discernible difference is the addition of a "2" next to the Joy-Cons, seemingly solidifying "Nintendo Switch 2" as the official name.

However, verification is pending, and skepticism remains. Nintendo's history includes consoles with names significantly different from their predecessors (e.g., the Wii U), raising the possibility of a less predictable naming convention. Some speculate that the Wii U's unconventional name negatively impacted sales, prompting a more straightforward approach for the Switch's successor.

While previous leaks appear to corroborate the leaked logo and name, gamers are advised to treat all current rumors as unconfirmed until official confirmation. Speculation persists that the official unveiling might occur sooner than anticipated, based on recent social media activity.
