Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Update Adds New Game Plus and More

By JulianMar 17,2025

Team Ninja has released a significant update (version 1.0.7.0) for Ninja Gaiden Master Collection’s Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, delivering highly anticipated features and improvements based on player feedback. Available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), this patch introduces New Game+, Photo Mode, and more.

New Game+ lets players restart the game on any previously completed difficulty, carrying over all acquired weapons and Ninpo. While these items retain their unlocks, they'll revert to level 1. Note: progressing to higher difficulties via New Game+ isn't currently supported.

A welcome quality-of-life improvement allows players to hide the projectile weapon displayed on their back. This toggle is conveniently located within the Options menu under Game Settings.

Balance adjustments include HP reductions for enemies in Chapters 8 and 11, increased enemy counts in Chapters 13 and 14, and a damage boost for some of Ayane's attacks.

The patch also addresses numerous bugs, including those affecting high-performance PCs, game-breaking glitches in specific chapters, and issues causing crashes during extended play sessions. A complete list of fixes is detailed below.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, initially a surprise release during January's Xbox Developer Direct, is an Unreal Engine 5 enhanced version of the classic action game. This update leverages the engine's capabilities to enhance visuals, introduce new playable characters, and improve combat mechanics. IGN's 8/10 review praised the game's gorgeous improvements over its Sigma 2 predecessor, calling it an excellent action game.
