Unlocking Napoleon Bonaparte in Civilization 7: A Guide to Both Personas

Napoleon Bonaparte, a staple of the Civilization franchise, returns in Civilization 7 (Civ 7), but unlocking his two distinct personas requires specific steps. This guide details how to acquire both the Emperor and Revolutionary versions.

How to Unlock Napoleon: Emperor Persona

To unlock Napoleon's Emperor Persona, you need a 2K account. Follow these simple steps:

  1. Visit portal.2k.com. Log in to your existing account or create a new one.
  2. Link your 2K account to your Civ 7 platform via Connections -> Account Overview.

That's it! The Emperor Napoleon excels in commerce and military strength, boasting the unique ability "Empereur des Francais": "Gain a Unique Sanction, Continental System, which reduces the Trade Route limit of the targeted Leader to all other Leaders by 1, causes a massive Relationship penalty, and costs more to reject. +8 Gold per Age for every Leader you are Unfriendly or Hostile with. Can reject Endeavors for free." His agenda, "Napoleonic Code," favors players with smaller armies and dislikes those with large navies.

How to Unlock Napoleon: Revolutionary Persona

Unlocking Napoleon's Revolutionary Persona requires prior Civilization 6 playtime.

  1. Follow the steps above to create or link your 2K account to Civ 7.
  2. Ensure your Civ 6 game is also linked to your 2K account. This works regardless of whether you played Civ 6 on the same platform as Civ 7.

Launching Civ 7 after completing these steps will unlock the Revolutionary Napoleon.

This Napoleon is a cultural/militaristic leader with the "La Grande Armee" ability: "+1 Movement for all Land Units. Defeating an enemy Unit provides Culture equal to 50% of its Combat Strength." His agenda, "Culture from Conquest," prefers players with high Culture Per Turn and dislikes those with numerous alliances.

This concludes the guide on acquiring both Napoleon personas in Civilization 7.
