Minecraft Live 2025 Unveils Vibrant Visuals, Flying Happy Ghast

Minecraft Live 2025 has wrapped up, and Mojang has unveiled an exciting array of updates and new content for the iconic game. Here’s a comprehensive look at everything announced:

Spring to Life is the first game drop of the year, set to launch on March 25. This update will enhance the Overworld by making biomes more immersive and vibrant. Players can expect new variants of familiar mobs like cows, pigs, and chickens, as well as fresh ambient features including the glittering firefly bush, falling leaves, and whispers of sand. These additions are designed to make exploration more engaging and rewarding.

The second game drop, while still unnamed, promises intriguing new elements. It introduces the Dried Ghast block, which players can rehydrate to transform into a Ghastling—a smaller, baby version of the ghast. The Ghastling can further evolve into a Happy Ghast, a new mob variant. Players can craft a Ghast harness to ride the Happy Ghast, allowing up to four players to soar through the skies together. This feature not only adds a fun new way to traverse the game world but also aids builders in Survival Mode by offering a pseudo-Creative Mode experience. Additionally, the Locator Bar will be a new feature at the bottom of the screen, helping players locate friends while flying on a Happy Ghast.

Mojang also announced a significant visual upgrade titled Vibrant Visuals. This update aims to enhance the game's aesthetics without altering gameplay, marking the first step in Mojang's vision for a transformative visual experience. In addition to game updates, Mojang shared an exclusive clip from the upcoming A Minecraft Movie and announced a movie-themed live event. This event, set in Midport Village, will run from March 25 to April 7. Players can join Steve and his movie companions in a dynamic multiplayer experience, defending the village from a piglin attack through three mini-games. Completing all challenges will reward players with the coveted Yearn cape.

During our visit to Mojang's offices in Sweden, we learned more about their philosophy on game development. Mojang has confirmed they will not be creating a Minecraft 2, nor will they shift to a free-to-play model or use generative AI in game development.
