Meta Discontinues Quest Pro VR Headset Sales

By EthanFeb 21,2025

The Meta Quest Pro is officially discontinued. Meta's website confirms its unavailability, ending speculation following earlier announcements of its impending demise. The high price point of $1499.99, significantly more than the standard Meta Quest line ($299.99-$499.99), hampered its adoption by both consumers and businesses. Remaining stock has now sold out.

Meta recommends the Meta Quest 3 as a superior alternative, boasting a "ultimate mixed reality experience" at a considerably lower price. While some remaining Meta Quest Pro units might exist in retail stores, availability is dwindling.

Why the Meta Quest 3 is a Worthy Successor

The Meta Quest 3 offers comparable functionality to the Quest Pro, but at a much more accessible $499 price point. It also features enhanced mixed reality capabilities, allowing users to blend virtual and real-world environments. Technically, the Quest 3 surpasses the Quest Pro in several key areas: it's lighter, boasts higher resolution and refresh rate, promising a more comfortable and immersive experience. Furthermore, the Quest Pro's Touch Pro controllers are compatible with the Quest 3. For budget-conscious users, the Meta Quest 2S, starting at $299.99, provides a more affordable option with slightly reduced specifications.
