In Avowed, upgrading your weaponry is crucial for survival. Early game encounters feature Common (Level I) weapons and enemies. However, as the difficulty increases to Level II, you'll need superior Fine (Tier II) gear. This guide explains how to acquire and upgrade to this higher tier.
Upgrading Weapons and Armor from Common (I) to Fine (II)
While some Fine Quality weapons and armor can be found or purchased, others require upgrading. Avowed uses a two-part system to gauge gear effectiveness: Quality (indicated by descriptor, color, and Roman numeral) and Enhancement Levels (+1 to +3). Common (I) gear is green, while Fine (II) gear is blue.
To upgrade from Common (I) to Fine (II), utilize workbenches located in Party Camps. Each enhancement level (+1 to +3) requires specific materials, varying by gear type. After reaching +3, you can upgrade to Fine (II) using Adra, a rare crystal obtained through quests, merchant purchases, or dismantling Unique items.
Locating and Purchasing Fine (II) Weapons and Armor
While upgrading is effective, it's resource-intensive. Alternatively, you can find Fine (II) gear early in Dawnshore, though it's uncommon. Level II enemies, especially Bounties, may drop Fine (II) items, but Common gear is less effective against them. Stock up on health potions!
Paradis merchants offer Fine (II) weapons and armor after accessing the city (following the early Dreamscourge bear boss fight). Twin sisters operate nearby stalls; one (Merlylin) sells magical items, while the other offers standard weapons and armor (pictured above).
