New Shader Compilation Mode

NetEase is rolling out an experimental feature to enhance Marvel Rivals’ performance and reduce memory demands. Announced on April 30 via X, the Switch Shader Compilation Mode targets smoother gameplay, especially for players with lower RAM or those experiencing FPS issues.

A detailed blog post on the Marvel Rivals website outlines this feature’s benefits. It addresses player concerns about performance stutters and crashes caused by high memory usage during gameplay.

The blog states, “To tackle memory overload, Season 2 introduces the Switch Shader Compilation Mode, available via the PC launcher.” This feature is ideal for systems with 16GB of RAM or less.

Key improvements include:

　●　Shader compilation triggers only on initial game launch after a version or graphics driver update.
　●　Significant reduction in memory usage, minimizing FPS drops, visual freezes, and crashes due to memory shortages.

Developers noted minor issues, such as temporary abnormal rendering of materials at match starts, which resolve quickly. Some stutters may occur but normalize during gameplay.

Season 2 Twitch Drops Campaign

Marvel Rivals kicks off Season 2 with a Twitch Drops campaign from April 11 at 12:00 UTC to April 30 at 23:59 UTC. Players can earn rewards by linking their Marvel Rivals and Twitch accounts and watching streams with Drops enabled.

Rewards are tied to viewing time and include exclusive in-game items.

Season 2 Hellfire Gala Goes Live

The latest Dev Vision previewed Season 2’s Hellfire Gala, introducing shorter seasons and a new hero monthly.

Maintenance for Season 2 begins April 11 at 9:00 UTC, lasting 2–3 hours.

The update adds Emma Frost as a playable character with X-Revolution and Blue Sapphire skins, a new Domination map (Hellfire Gala: Krakoa), and a battle pass with 10 new heroic costume sets.
