While Marvel Rivals is still fresh on the gaming scene, fans are already eager for major updates. Recent buzz about a possible PvE boss fight sparked hopes for a new mode, but NetEase has confirmed no such plans are in place yet.
At the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, we discussed the prospect of a PvE mode with Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu. Here’s what he shared:
"Currently, we have no plans for a PvE mode, but our team is always exploring new gameplay options. If we discover a mode that’s engaging and fun, we’ll definitely consider bringing it to our players."
Following this, Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo asked if I was keen on a PvE mode, to which I said yes. Wu elaborated:
"We know some of our players would enjoy a PvE mode. However, creating a full-fledged PvE experience would be a completely different beast compared to our current game. Our team is experimenting with various ideas, perhaps something lighter, to see what fits best with Marvel Rivals."
For now, it seems there are no firm plans for PvE, though Wu hinted that NetEase is toying with concepts for a simpler mode, possibly as a special event. Details remain scarce.
Marvel Rivals continues to roll out updates every six weeks, with Human Torch and The Thing joining the roster on February 21. We also chatted with Wu and Koo about a potential Nintendo Switch 2 release for Marvel Rivals, which you can read about here, and asked if they were teasing dataminers with fake hero "leaks" in the code.
