Marvel Rivals: How to Play Mister Fantastic

Marvel Rivals delivers a fantastic hero-shooter experience, boasting diverse gameplay across its numerous characters and stunning visuals. As the game evolves, new characters will continue to be added, enriching the gameplay further. Season 1 introduces iconic heroes from the Fantastic Four, including the remarkable Mister Fantastic.

Mister Fantastic is a dualist character in Marvel Rivals, excelling at rapid movement and contributing significantly to the team's damage. His primary method is grappling and pulling himself towards allies or enemies. Each new duelist alters the game's meta, making their impact on various maps unpredictable.

Mister Fantastic’s Primary Attack in Marvel Rivals

Effective Marvel Rivals duelists require a strong primary attack. Mister Fantastic's Stretch Punch, while lacking a secondary attack type, is surprisingly versatile. This three-hit combo uses a single fist for the first two strikes, culminating in a powerful two-handed final blow.

Its versatility stems from the ability to land an early punch; the stretched arm continues to deal damage as it travels, affecting all enemies in its path. This allows for multiple area-of-effect attacks using only his primary. Similar multi-hit primary attacks can be seen in other characters like Storm’s Wind Blade.

Mister Fantastic’s Abilities in Marvel Rivals

Mister Fantastic possesses several activatable abilities (best tested in the training room). These abilities build towards a damage-boosting passive. Once fully charged, this passive becomes a significant threat. Key stats to monitor include his health and Elasticity.

He starts with 350 health but utilizes shields for enhanced survivability, exceeding expectations for a duelist. Elasticity (displayed below the crosshair) is crucial. Each basic attack generates 5 Elasticity; aiming for 100 Elasticity as quickly as possible is key. Mister Fantastic has a 3-star difficulty, challenging beginners but ultimately accessible to all players.

Reflexive Rubber

  • Active Ability
  • 12 seconds

Mister Fantastic stretches into a rectangular shape, remaining mobile while absorbing all incoming damage. Upon expiration, he unleashes the stored damage in the direction of the player's reticle.

Flexible Elongation

  • Active Ability
  • 3 seconds
  • 30 Elasticity Generated

This ability grants a shield, boosting Mister Fantastic's health from 350 to 425. He pulls himself towards a target, dealing damage to enemies or providing a shield to allies. This offers tactical flexibility—contributing damage or providing support. The ability has two charges.

Distended Grip

  • Active Ability
  • 6 seconds
  • 30 Elasticity Generated

Distended Grip is another versatile ability. Mister Fantastic stretches to grab a target, presenting two options: Dash (pulling him towards the target without a shield) or Impact (using his fists). Impact, when used on an already grappled enemy, pulls the enemy closer, dealing damage. Ideally used when another enemy is nearby, allowing Mister Fantastic to grapple a second target and slam them together, damaging both.

Wedded Harmony

  • Team-Up Ability
  • 20 seconds

Only active with Invisible Woman on the team, this ability heals Mister Fantastic for any lost health (without granting shields). This improves his survivability between shield uses.

Elastic Strength

  • Passive Ability

Each ability use builds Elasticity, increasing damage output. At maximum Elasticity, Mister Fantastic transforms, gaining significantly increased damage and a substantial shield. This shield decays before he returns to his normal form, but some shield remains. Abilities are unavailable during this inflated state. Failing to deal damage causes Elasticity to decay.

Brainiac Bounce

  • Ultimate Ability

Mister Fantastic leaps and crashes down, dealing area-of-effect damage, then bounces to repeat the attack multiple times. Devastating against clustered enemies.

Tips for Playing Mister Fantastic in Marvel Rivals

Mister Fantastic’s damage mitigation and shield access make him surprisingly tanky. His passive further enhances his survivability.

Flexible Reflection

Combining Flexible Elongation and Reflexive Rubber provides shields for both Mister Fantastic and an ally, while simultaneously tanking enemy attacks before unleashing stored damage. This can overwhelm less experienced opponents.

Rushing Reflexive Rubber

While Reflexive Rubber helps build Elastic Strength, using it strategically even when not focusing on the passive can increase the duration of his inflated state, maximizing objective presence and damage. Shield stacking with other sources (e.g., two Flexible Elongations) can boost his health pool to 950.
