Street Fighter 6 welcomes a new fighter, reigniting player interest! The latest addition to the roster is Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury franchise.
Capcom's Street Fighter 6, a resounding success, boasted 4.4 million copies sold by December 31, 2024. While some fans felt content updates were slow, the arrival of Mai Shiranui has proven a significant boost.
Mai Shiranui, the third character in the second season pass, has dramatically increased Street Fighter 6's popularity. On her release day, Steam's peak concurrent players surged past 63,000 (compared to the previous peak of 24-27,000) – the highest since May 2024.
Access to Mai is granted via the Battle Pass. World Tour mode allows players to cultivate a relationship with Mai, learn her moves, and then put their skills to the test in Battle Hub. A second costume, inspired by her appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, has also been added.
The Battle Hub also features a temporary guest character: Professor Woshige, a renowned fighting game developer and legend, playable until March 10th. New Master League ranks and rewards have also been implemented.
Capcom released a showcase trailer highlighting Mai's impressive fighting techniques.
