Keeper: Control a Walking Lighthouse with a Goofy Bird

By NicholasJun 17,2025

Following the success of *Psychonauts 2*, Double Fine has been quietly crafting a brand-new project that made its debut at the latest Xbox Games Showcase. The game is titled *Keeper*, and it introduces players to an utterly bizarre yet charming world centered around a walking, sentient lighthouse guided by a peculiar-looking bird.

The reveal footage shows a whimsical bird landing atop a stationary lighthouse, which then transforms as spindly legs emerge, allowing the structure to begin an odd but oddly endearing journey across a vast and imaginative landscape. While the bird’s exact role remains somewhat mysterious, it appears to be either steering or assisting the lighthouse on its trek. What the lighthouse is seeking—or why it walks—remains unknown, but the surreal tone fits perfectly within Double Fine’s signature style of creative storytelling and offbeat design.

As strange as it may sound, fans have every reason to be excited. Double Fine has consistently delivered memorable experiences, and *Psychonauts 2* was met with critical acclaim, earning an 8/10 from IGN. Reviewer Mitchell Saltzman praised the game's "weird and wonderfully written story," noting how it "brings together interesting, nuanced characters that I instantly fell in love with." He also highlighted how the studio managed to expand the universe while preserving the nostalgic charm of the original.

*Keeper* is set to launch on October 17 for PlayStation 5, Xbox consoles, and PC. With Double Fine’s track record and the game’s intriguing debut, anticipation is already building for what promises to be another imaginative and emotionally rich adventure.
