While Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered emphasizes dynamic action gameplay, it also provides extensive options for customizing weapons and outfits. You can craft one outfit ideal for stealth around machines, while another excels in melee or ranged combat.

Sometimes, you may want to blend the benefits of multiple outfits. Fortunately, this is possible, though with some restrictions. This guide details how to achieve it.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Required

In Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, you can combine the effects of two outfits, a feature exclusive to this version. A recent update introduced the transmog system, enabling you to retain one outfit’s stats and effects while adopting another’s appearance. This means you no longer have to sacrifice style for functionality.

Requirements for the Dual Outfit Technique

To use the effects of two outfits, keep a few key points in mind. This method doesn’t work with all outfits. While one outfit can be any of your choosing, the other must be one of these three:

  • Banuk Werak Runner
  • Banuk Werak Chieftain
  • Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept (available only in New Game Plus)

This technique isn’t available at the game’s start, as the required outfits are found only in the Frozen Wilds DLC area. Luckily, you don’t need to finish the main game to access this region.

How to Obtain Banuk Werak Outfits in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered

Banuk Werak Runner

Start by reaching the expansion area after defeating the new machine. If you’re struggling, consider lowering the difficulty or enhancing your gear. Once there, find a Bluegleam Merchant (indicated by a blue Merchant icon) and buy the Banuk Werak Runner outfit.

Banuk Werak Chieftain & Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept

To acquire the Banuk Werak Chieftain, a superior option, complete the "For the Werak" quest, the third main mission in the Frozen Wilds DLC. Equip your best gear, as this quest is demanding. Alternatively, switch to Story mode for an easier experience to unlock the outfit faster.

The process for obtaining the Adept version is identical but exclusive to New Game Plus.

With the second outfit in hand, you’re ready to proceed. You can skip further Frozen Wilds content if desired.

Steps to Combine Effects of Two Outfits

First, equip your preferred outfit, ensuring it has the desired stats. You can enhance its stats with Weaves. Then, use the transmog feature to apply the appearance of one of the three listed outfits. These outfits don’t add stats but provide automatic healing after taking damage for a period.

This approach lets you keep your chosen outfit’s stats while gaining the auto-healing benefit from a Banuk Werak outfit. Pairing this with the Shield Weaver outfit makes you nearly invincible, as it minimizes damage taken, and the Banuk Werak’s healing perk activates after a brief delay.

The Chieftain and Chieftain Adept outfits’ healing perks activate faster than the Banuk Werak Runner’s, so prioritize them if available.
