This nostalgic clash takes place after the events of 1984's Secret Wars, shortly after Spider-Man's return from Battleworld and his acquisition of the symbiote suit. The story sees Peter Parker utilizing his enhanced abilities to confront a colossal threat to New York City.
Written by Joe Kelly (the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man relaunch), with art by Nick Bradshaw (Wolverine and the X-Men), and cover art by Bradshaw, Lee Garbett, and Greg Land, this comic promises a spectacular showdown.
"The moment I heard about an '80s-set Godzilla/Spidey crossover, I jumped at the chance," Kelly shared with IGN. "This book lets us unleash the full potential of these iconic characters, capturing the era's chaotic energy. Nick Bradshaw perfectly embodies the absurdity while maintaining the gravitas of Godzilla and Spidey (in his, shall we say, unique black suit)."
This isn't the first superhero-Godzilla crossover; DC's Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong and its sequel are ongoing. However, unlike the MonsterVerse focus of the DC series, Marvel's event showcases the classic Toho Godzilla.
This announcement follows IDW's Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, a charity anthology benefiting wildfire relief.
Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 hits shelves April 30, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates on Marvel and DC's 2025 comic book releases.
