The latest website update features small icons of four of the eight main characters. Clicking these reveals concise descriptions paired with new artwork by FF9’s character designer, Toshiyuki Itahana, known for his work on Crystal Chronicles and Chocobo spinoffs. These summaries highlight each character’s role and ambitions in the story.
While no official confirmation has surfaced, the detailed updates to the anniversary site have fans speculating that Square Enix is gearing up for a major FF9 announcement. For now, fans must await further news on a possible remake.

Square Enix has also expanded the FF9 25th anniversary merchandise lineup, introducing items like Garnet’s necklace, a wearable replica of Vivi’s hat, and a set of acrylic standees.
Garnet’s Silver Necklace is now available for pre-order, with a release planned for November 15, priced at approximately 38,500 yen ($260). A wearable replica of Vivi’s hat is also up for reservation, set to launch on September 6 for around 17,600 yen ($120).

The FF9 Acrylic Stand Collection, featuring eight unique designs, is sold as blind boxes, keeping the specific design a surprise until unboxed.
