In "Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2," Hans needs your help in the main quest, "For Whom the Bell Tolls," specifically within Trosky Castle. This involves creating a Fever Tonic using alchemy.
Locating the Fever Tonic Recipe:
The recipe resides in the Surgeon's Workshop inside Trosky Castle. Access is gained in two ways: either by stealthily entering the workshop, or by convincing the chamberlain you can create a digestive potion for his stomach ailment. If choosing the latter, completing the "For Whom the Bell Tolls" questline up to delivering the horseshoe, then speaking with Cook Fanka, will lead you to the chamberlain. Successfully completing skill checks during conversation with him will grant you access to the workshop. Failing these checks necessitates stealing food, using a different kitchen entrance, and bribing a guard with the stolen food to gain access. Once inside, locate the surgeon's journal on the bookshelf.
Brewing the Fever Tonic:
The necessary herbs are already present on the surgeon's station. Follow these steps, referencing the Fever Tonic recipe in the journal:
- Pour wine into the cauldron.
- Add 3 handfuls of Feverfew.
- Lower the heat and boil for 2 turns of the sandglass.
- Grind a handful of Elderberry Leaves.
- Add the ground Elderberry Leaves.
- Add 2 handfuls of Ginger.
- Obtain a phial from the bottom-left shelf.
- Distill the tonic using the Still.
Additional herbs are available in a chest within the room if needed.
Completing the Quest:
After brewing the Fever Tonic, locate Thomas. If you gained the chamberlain's trust by providing the digestive potion, return to him with both potions. Otherwise, use the noble's kitchen to reach the chapel and find Thomas and his sister, Adele. Speak with Adele to conclude the quest.
