Sandfall Interactive, the studio behind Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, is actively developing various improvements for the title. In a June 16 post on X (formerly Twitter), the team committed to introducing more exciting content and accessibility features to elevate the player experience.

They announced, "We're currently investigating a wide array of future enhancements, which range from accessibility options and new content to various smaller features we are actively evaluating." The team is also working to broaden the game's localization, moving beyond the current French and English voiceovers by adding subtitles in more languages.

Fans of the celebrated RPG have been eagerly requesting additional content. Last month, Expedition 33 Lead Writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen responded optimistically regarding the possibility of DLC. While nothing is confirmed, Svedberg-Yen mentioned that the chances of an expansion depend on "strong player demand," which clearly exists.

It's important to note that Sandfall also intends to develop a new game. According to Sandfall Interactive COO and Producer François Meurisse, another title is definitely in the pipeline, though it's too early to share specific details.

Although Sandfall hasn't provided a precise release schedule or specific details about the update, they wanted to reassure fans that all feedback is being considered. The community responded with overwhelming support, with many players specifically requesting Arabic as a new language option.

Hideo Kojima Praises Expedition 33's Development Team Size

In related news, Hideo Kojima, creator of Death Stranding and Metal Gear, commended Expedition 33 for its success and described its development team size as ideal. During a group Q&A interview attended by Dexerto, Kojima reflected on how team sizes have changed throughout his career.

He recalled, "When I first started, teams were as small as six people. You could handle everything personally. Now, teams have grown so large that direct oversight of every team member isn't feasible, requiring delegation. However, larger teams sometimes struggle to fully realize creative visions."

By contrast, Kojima observed that Expedition 33's compact team structure is perfect, expressing his desire for a similar setup. "They have just about 33 team members and a dog. That's exactly the kind of team size I envision when creating something collaboratively," he elaborated.

CD Projekt Red Advocates for Expedition 33 in Game of the Year Discussions

Industry developers continue to express admiration for this Belle Époque-inspired turn-based RPG, with CD Projekt Red's Global Community Director Marcin Momot asserting it deserves consideration for Game of the Year (GOTY). Momot shared his praise in a June 17 post on X, emphasizing the need for more games like Expedition 33.

His post stated, "That concludes my time with Clair Obscur. I'll echo what many are saying: we absolutely NEED more games like this. It delivers a compelling story from beginning to end, features incredibly likable characters, offers fun and engaging gameplay, and the music is simply outstanding. A brilliant achievement! This game should definitely be part of the GOTY conversation!"

He further emphasized the impact of the game's multiple endings in the comments, noting that "the story and endings are profoundly powerful." Momot agreed with a comment suggesting that Expedition 33 will be a formidable contender for the GOTY award.

While Expedition 33 is widely considered a strong GOTY contender by fans, this year's impressive lineup of releases will present a significant challenge for Sandfall Interactive's debut project.
