Developers Fine-Tuning Elden Ring Expansion Until Launch

With Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree nearing its release date, FromSoftware developers confirm they're "continuously refining and balancing the game." In a May 27 interview with GamesRadar+, Director Hidetaka Miyazaki shared his mix of excitement and nervousness as the expansion's launch approaches.

Despite pre-launch jitters, Miyazaki expressed confidence in the team's dedication: "We're committed to perfecting every detail until the final moment. Our focus remains on fine-tuning gameplay elements to ensure maximum player satisfaction and smooth combat mechanics."

While FromSoftware has extensive experience with Soulsborne titles, this expansion represents their most ambitious cooperative multiplayer implementation yet, requiring particular attention to balancing and technical polish.

Launch Trailer Introduces Mysterious Revenant Character

The official launch trailer debuted on May 27, showcasing cinematic sequences featuring character classes and dramatic boss encounters. Viewers gained their first proper look at the enigmatic eighth Nightfarer - Revenant.

The trailer reveals Revenant wielding her unique harp-like weapon, with additional glimpses of her distinctive puppet-like hands. Originally teased in the expansion's overview trailer, this shadowy character remains the only Nightfarer without a dedicated gameplay showcase, leaving fans eager for more details.

Upcoming Night Hunt Showcase Event

Bandai Namco US announced via Twitter on May 28 an exclusive livestream event titled "Night Hunt," featuring eight teams battling across three competitive rounds. The broadcast will air simultaneously across Bandai Namco's Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok channels on May 28 at 3:00 PM PT / 6:00 PM ET.

While participant details remain undisclosed, this showcase will provide the first complete demonstration of Shadow of the Erdtree's multiplayer combat. The expansion launches worldwide on May 30, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms.
