Elden Ring is set to expand its horizons with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, introducing the eagerly awaited Tarnished Edition. This new version promises to enhance the gaming experience with additional content, including two new character classes and new appearances for the beloved steed, Torrent.
During the "FROMSOFTWARE GAMES EVENT Spring 2025" held in Tokyo on May 6, FromSoftware unveiled exciting updates for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition. Among the highlights were the introduction of the "Knight of Ides" and "Heavy Armored Knight" classes. These new classes come with unique armor sets, two of which will be part of the four new armors available in the game. The other two armor sets will be obtainable within the game itself, adding to the excitement of exploration and discovery. Additionally, new weapons and skills were teased, promising to enrich the gameplay further.
For fans of the spectral horse Torrent, there's good news as well. The Tarnished Edition will feature three new appearances for Torrent, allowing players to customize their loyal companion in fresh and exciting ways. While these enhancements are bundled in the Tarnished Edition, which also includes the Shadow of the Erdtree content, FromSoftware has announced that these additions will also be available on other platforms through the Tarnished Pack DLC. Priced affordably, this DLC pack ensures that all players can enjoy the new content, regardless of their platform.
Introducing new classes is a strategic move, especially for players starting fresh on the Switch 2. It provides a novel experience and caters to those who might want to try different playstyles after extensive gameplay on other consoles. Given Elden Ring's massive success, having sold over 30 million copies worldwide, this new edition is poised to attract even more players and potentially increase those sales figures further.
While no specific release date has been announced for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on the Nintendo Switch 2 or for the Tarnished Pack DLC, fans can look forward to these exciting updates sometime in 2025.
